We wanted to bring you the interesting story of Rick Singleton, our Sales Manager at Brewpoint and his friends who not only completing the Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours, but also brewing a beer from their journey.
The idea stemmed from the team when two of the group had loved ones diagnosed with the disease. Unfortunately, and sadly, since, both family members have passed away, making the challenge even more heartfelt and important.
As Rick works at Brewpoint, he had the genius idea to also carry 15% of our individual body weight in hops, to symbolise the 15% of brain mass that is lost whilst having Alzheimer’s. These hops will then be delivered back at the brewery and brewed into a speciality brew; The Three Peaks Beer. This beer will be available in the taproom and on the online retail store with all proceeds donated to Alzheimer’s UK.
The challenge is due to take place on 10 June and training is already well under way.
Rick Singleton, said, “This is a cause that is close to all of our hearts. Alzheimer’s is the number one killer in the UK and is still without a cure. Whether it is supporting people living with the disease or the people who love them, we know that every donation has a huge impact and are determined to raise as much as we can.”
Keep an eye out on our Brewpoint website and social media pages in July when the beer will be brewed and ready and boy, do we think the lads will deserve one.
