Rising through the ranks

Happy #NationalHospitalityDay

A nationwide day to celebrate the wonderful sector that is the hospitality! We're so grateful to everyone within the industry, our people, our pubs and of course, our suppliers who support us.

We thought we'd share a story of our (now) Head Chef Callum. Read all about his story rising through the ranks below ⬇

Here's to #Hospitality #NationalHospitalityDay

Wells & Co. are all about supporting progression and no story fits this better than our current Head Chef, Callum Page. Callum joined us back in 2016 as a Kitchen Porter at The Old White Horse in Baldock, after Wells transformed the site into its former brand concept, Pizza, Pots & Pints. Eager to please and a keen worker, Callum soon rose to the challenge and was promoted to Chef de Partie and then Sous Chef.

After 5 years of service with us, Callum decided to part ways and head to the Big Smoke to try his chef skills downtown in London.
After a short while in London, Callum decided to make contact again and see if there were any opportunities available, and there were. Callum rejoined our team in 2022, arriving back as Head Chef at newly refurbished Managed house, The Gordon Arms in Bedford.

“To have him back with the team and now as Head Chef is just fantastic.” Wells & Co. Talent Acquisition Manager, Louisa Thomas stated. “We are so proud of our people and Callum’s story is one of many where our employees have had a chance to develop with us.”

Callum stated, “I’ve always enjoyed working for Wells & Co. and have a great relationship with many of the team members. Looking ahead to the future, Callum reflects, “My main focus now is to get everything I can out of the Head Chef role. I mostly enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, even when it can be pretty full on, I know I have a strong team around me who are focused on succeeding."
